Renesas Electronics makes microcontrollers, the tiny devices that regulate operations in products from computer printers to microwave ovens to automobiles. The company, formed when NEC Electronics and Renesas Technology combined chip operations in 2010, also turns out a wide array of microprocessors and power devices. Its products are mostly used in automotive (in the auto factory controlling robots as well as in the auto controlling a variety of functions), industrial and, consumer electronics applications.
